How i got into the time share business PART 1

In 1978 i was an independent antique dealer in hawaii. Calling a client one day, her husband said i was selling overpriced junk-what!!! i said no problem i would give the money back and pick up the items the next day, without skipping a beat. He said he didnt believe me and was calling my bluff. I showed up at their waikiki penthouse and this burl ives type guy with bifocals was calling the showdown off. Obviously she wasnt going to give any of it back, and he wanted to know what i was up to as he didnt think i could even get half of what i had charged her. Its simple i explained, your wife is wealthy and so are her friends, wealthy people buy whatever they want
they are hard to sell to though. If she buys from me so will her friends, i had sold her my latest haul for almost no profit just to gain entrance to this circle of hers. Had you convinced her to return it - no loss for me i would sell it elsewhere for a lot more thats why i had no problem dispatching your uneducated okole (hawaiian for behind). he laughed and asked how much time
i dedicated to this venture. I told him i ran 2 spots in flea markets, i would leave one person at each
while shopping the rest of the market looking for treasures-sat and sun, the rest of the week was buying or taking wish lists to private homes just like yours. In fact i was the first person to buy a spot at aloha stadium, that sun. there was only 2 vendors .when i left hawaii there was 600 vendors. What do you do the rest of the time? I told him i was studying to take the state dept. foreign service career test. He offered me to work for him doing odd jobs in one of his companies.
his wife was Ginnie Simms, a big band singer for kay kaiser in ww2 and came out in many movies from the 40's-50's. She had been married to Hyatt Von Dehn of Hyatt fame and had decorated the first hyatt hotels, she gave the hotels their name because he was at a loss what to call them. He was Don Eastvold- prior Attorney General for the state of Washington and washington state senator 2 terms. His office had just gotten rid of a kid who was not focused
in his duties and they desperately needed someone to fill his spot. TO BE CONTINUED
