the shield and spear

there was a man in the Chinese village trying to sell a spear and shield, extolling the virtues of his wares he stated the shield was impenetrable to any sword or spear. the spear he said could penetrate any shield in china. someone asked what would happen if he threw his spear at his own shield? embarrassed he left as people said these two things could never co-exist.
