Parasailing

Do you know what para sailing is?
that's when you give a perfect stranger $40 to entrust your life with a rope.
Living in resorts i got plenty of stories to tell you. i saw lots of hard landings and many water
landings both provided broken limbs and watery graves due to cord entanglements.
one guy takes his 6 yr old with him, the rope snaps and the strong winds blow him 3 miles
and they plop right down smack in front of a foursome on the 7Th tee on the golf course and end up against a palm tree-unhurt.

i watched a woman on the edge of a 10 story bldg. hanging, with cords entangled, she was stone cold out, fainted or by the initial blow. 30 people were trying to pull her down-this lasted at least an hour-(i had to get back to work ) never found out her final condition.

an ex parasailer employee came looking for work with us. after he was hired we found out 2 people died on his tour , they fell out of their tandem chair from about 250 feet, they were celebrating their anniversary.

at a resort that was still being built, a lady got off course and was suspended from a high crane for 4 hrs, being a Sunday we had to call in the operator to help get her down.

most of the seasoned operators are very good, they wont take you up if the wind is too much too little and can usually land you within a 15 ft. radius. the creeps who don't enough revenue will put you in jeopardy. the inexperienced ones, to save and make money-rather land you in safe water will try the land landing and smack you against a palm tree and this is where i saw most mishaps.

some of them are so good- there was a watch and perfume counterfeiting operation in a foreign country beach resort penthouse-that an Interpol team sought out the best parasailer to take up a photographer to record what they could-he got him right on the dime carefully lowering and
lifting him as to not arouse suspicion--zzzt-zzzt-zzzt a high speed camera recorded everything.
