More hardball

I just read this long drawn out military institute studies center treatise on Brazil and its involvement in ww2. read it if you want-socio-economic info regarding its neighboring countries
and their Germanic influence which was vast and dangerous to the U.S., Chile-Paraguay-Argentina
were pro-Nazi and had enormous resources to feed the war machine in Europe. in fact Hitler and
his ilk had already drawn up elaborate plans to take over south America and make it 2 countries
only, brazilia and the Argentine with a divisory line right across the country ignoring the other established countries. to get the Brazilians won over to the allied side was not easy as it seems
the axis was unstoppable at that point. this is how the u.s. won them over. they made a movie
about Brazil showing the abject misery of the people and the injustices of a despotic regimen.
it was well made insofar as inflammatory psychological undertones regarding the current state of affairs. the pre-screening in Washington d.c. was a gala affair and of course the ambassador of Brazil would surely not miss this great movie extolling the beauty and grandeur of his country.to make it easy it was like 9/11 Fahrenheit to the government then -and worse-it was designed to create an enormous uproar quite possibly and specifically to lead to a civil uprising and revolution. the ambassador was speechless and furious-film canisters were already in place in brazil ready for showing. the government there realized this was only the beginning of the things that could be thrust upon them by a capable adversary. below is a photo of brazilian pilots, happy with their contribution in the war effort-unaware of how their country was hoodwinked.
